Overview |
Timeframe |
BIOINFOMED |
"The project's main objective is to carry out a Prospective
Analysis on the Relationships and Synergy between Medical Informatics
and Bio informatics." |
2002-03-01 to 2003-02-28 |
BIRN network |
"The Biomedical Informatics Research Network (BIRN), a National
Institutes of Health (NIH)-National Center for Research Resources
(NCRR)-sponsored initiative, is establishing a distributed
information technology infrastructure to improve biomedical
research. This evolving "cyberinfrastructure" will
enable researchers throughout the United States to collaborate
on
large-scale studies of human disease with unique, multi-resolution
tools." |

e-BioSci and Oriel |
"E-BioSci is EMBO's initiative to provide a federated
network of European platforms for a wide range of high quality
electronic services relating to information access and retrieval
in the life sciences.
The ORIEL Project will promote access to and integration of E-BioSci services.
In return, E-BioSci will provide a staging area in which ORIEL components
can be pre-released prior to rigourous testing by sub-sets of research community
users. This staging facility will serve both as development area for testing
and integrating ORIEL prototypes within E-BioSci, as well as evaluating their
effectiveness with core users of the live service." |
2002-01-01 to 2004-12-31 |
HKIS |
"The project proposes the realization of a platform
integrating the most recent advances in data processing [in
the cancel field] that will be validated by 3 European oncology
hospitals owning very rich but under-exploited tumors and clinical
databases. The created web based platform will allow formalization
of re-usable, simple to operate, complex chaining of data mining
and data morphing treatments." |
2002-07-01 to 2004-12-31 |
INFOGENE |
"INFOGENE will design, implement and evaluate a set of information
technology (IT) components communicating through Internet to
enable citizens to manage their lifestyle in the light of modern
genetic knowledge. Personal digital assistants will be linked
to a multilingual web-based system through wireless or wired
networks in order to guide users in creating their personal
genetic profile and family disease history. Based on this,
is, users receive confidential relevant advice. Users can also
access easy-to-understand, quality-assured knowledge on the
aspects of genetics that impact on their own life including:
risk factors, diseases with a genetic determinism (e.g. some
cancers and cardio-vascular troubles), reproduction behaviour,
genetic testing, ethical guidelines, and a directory for medical
and social assistance in their area if needed" |
2001-10-01 to 2004-09-30 |
PRIDEH-GEN |
"The main aim of this cluster project is to establish co-operation
between two projects (PRIDEH and INFOGENE) and two fields (e-Security
/ PETs and Medical Genomics) as to maximise interaction and
obtain mutual benefits. Regarding privacy protection and genomic
medicine in particular, it is important to recognise and further
identify the domain-specific problems. A better understanding
of these characteristic issues will lead to more specific and
better-adapted privacy protection measures. " |
